Using the 5320
Direct Draw Cleaning Kit
in commercial and home applications.

The KegMan direct draw cleaning kit has all the necessary equipment for the small job on one or two faucet systems. The job is simple and easy to do.

Situation #1         Once a week the beer line and faucet should be cleaned with fresh tap water. This is performed as follows:
  • Shut off the pressure supply at the CO2 cylinder.
  • Remove the keg connector (beer tap) from the keg.
  • Remove the black cap and pump on the cleaner.
  • Fill jar with fresh water and reassemble.
  • Remove the faucet from the shank (use the spanner wrench provided).
  • Rinse the faucet under fresh water with faucet in open position.
  • Connect the cleaning attachment on the end of the cleaner to the faucet shank coupling nut. Tighten coupling nut slightly with the spanner wrench.
  • Place the keg coupler into an empty bucket and pump water through line. If tap has a shutoff, be sure it is open.
  • Remove cleaning attachment from the shank and replace the faucet. Tighten coupling nut with spanner wrench.
  • Make sure the beer faucet is closed and then re tap the keg.

Situation #2         Periodically all draught beer systems must be cleaned with beer line cleaner (B*L*C*-KegMan Number 5010). This should always be performed before a new keg is tapped.
  • The pressure source in a direct draw dispenser is bottled C02 gas. This gas is reduced to the proper dispensing pressure by a regulator and then delivered to the keg through a flexible hose and keg coupler. This coupler has a check valve in it to prevent beer from backing up into the hose and regulator. Before a new keg is tapped this line should be "blown out" by quickly opening and closing the regulator outlet valve allowing a surge of gas to travel through the coupler. The coupler should then be rinsed in a bucket of fresh water.
  • Mix ½oz. B*L*C* (beer line cleaner No. 5010) to each quart of hot water. Be very careful not to let the concentrated B*L*C* to contact skin. See caution on B*L*C* label.
  • Remove the black cleaner cap assembly an fill the cleaning jar with the mixture and then reassemble, leaving the remaining solution in the bucket.
  • With the coupler still on the keg it should be blown out by quickly opening and closing the regulator outlet valve.
  • Remove the coupler from the beer line and place the connector in the bucket of cleaning mixture.
  • Remember to save the black connector washer (KegMan No. 8122). Remove the faucet from the shank, using the spanner wrench. Disassemble the faucet as shown in the faucet diagram, and place the faucet parts in the bucket along with the coupling washer and the keg connector.
  • Attach the cleaning attachment on end of cleaner hose to the faucet shank coupling nut. Tighten slightly with spanner wrench. Place beer line end into bucket and pump the solution through the line.
  • Remove the tap and faucet parts, brush thoroughly with faucet brush KegMan No. 8549 supplied or optional No. 8550 stainless steel brush.
  • If coupler has a shutoff, make sure it is in open position.
  • Rinse all parts in the pail with cool fresh water and reassemble the faucet.
  • Use the faucet brush to clean around shank end and coupling nut.
  • Detach the cleaning kit from th shank and rinse with cool fresh water.
  • Fill the cleaner with fresh water and re-attach it to faucet shank coupling nut, pump water through beer line with the end of line is a bucket.
  • Disconnect cleaner and replace the assembled faucet. Tighten coupling nut slightly with spanner wrench.
  • Attach beer line to coupler making certain to reinsert the black hose washer. You are now ready to tap the new keg of beer.
  • The drip tray should be cleaned out with a sponge using the same solution and then rinsed.
  • Periodically the inside of refrigeration unit should be cleaned with same solution and a damp sponge.
  • When the keg is empty and the unit is not going to be used for a while, the above steps should be followed to prevent yeast build up, beer stones and sediment in the beer line.

 


Situation #3        

Periodically the faucet washers should be checked for ware and replaces as necessary. If the faucet drips in closed position the rubber faucet shaft seal washer (No. 9856) on the shaft should be replaced.
