What’s a TapTimer?

The TapTimer is a revolutionary device (Patent Pending) that measures the amount of time your tap is on – based on this time the integrated microcontroller calculates the approximate volume of beer remaining in the keg and displays this amount in full color on the front gauge.  When you’re in the red zone, you know you’re close to empty.

The TapTimer runs off a CR2477 battery which provides 950 mAHr. This should be enough power to last over 200 kegs considering the low power sleep mode.

How do I get my TapTimer?

Individuals can order a TapTimer as part number 1519 $69.95 US at our secure web site Order Form

How do I work it?

1         Unscrew tap handle and put aside until later.

2         Hold the TapTimer with the LED display facing you while the big hole is on the bottom.

3         Place the unit over the exposed threaded stud until the stud comes through the top hole.

4         Replace tap handle by screwing it back onto the threaded stud.

5         You must have a new keg in place before you go any further as per the warning above. If you already started on a keg, you will have to wait until you replace it with a new keg to continue. This is good motivation to drink more beer and to drink it faster.

5a        When you have a fresh keg. Initiate the TapTimer by clicking the Reset Switch with a paper clip. The display should blink 3 yellow lights three times. This indicates that it is ready to be calibrated. Calibration mode will blink 3 times. You can only calibrate your system 1 time. After you “teach” the TapTimer, it will remember it forever - therefore, please follow the instructions closely.

6         When you have your fresh keg in place, press the RESET button, and get 3 blinking yellow lights you are in business. Next, drink the keg. We can’t go any further until that happens - again, good motivation to increase your beer consumption. You’ll notice that only yellow lights will come on when you pour a beer or when you close the tap. This is the visual indication that the TapTimer is being calibrated.

7         Burp! Now that the keg is empty, you need to tell the TapTimer. This is done by again pressing the RESET button. You will get visual confirmation with all the lights on the display coming on and begin to fade away into the middle until they are all gone. Congratulations! You just calibrated (aka “taught”) your TapTimer! Now the TapTimer knows how fast your system pours and it’s burned forever into it’s memory. The only thing you have to do now is enjoy drinking more beer. Time to put a fresh keg in the system and press RESET.

8         Whenever you replace a keg, you will need to press the RESET button to reset the timer. This tells the TapTimer that you have a new keg and it’s counter will reset to full.

9         Enjoy a beer! The TapTimer lets you know it’s working by lighting a green LED while you’re pouring your beer. When you shut off the tap handle, the amount of the keg remaining is displayed as follows:

10         Whenever you enter the “Red Zone” you’ll have approximately 1/10th of a keg left. This means about 16 twelve ounce beers or 12 sixteen ounce beers. What it really means is it’s time to get a new keg!
