This 3/8" nylon flare washer is the standard way to get a leak-proof seal between MFL (Male Flare) fittings and swivel nuts. Instead of relying on a metal-to-metal contact that can leak if there's a tiny scratch or imperfection, this washer provides a surface that compresses for a tight seal.
You'll need these whenever you're connecting a swivel nut to the threaded end of an MFL disconnect, tailpiece, or regulator output. It's a much more reliable fix than Teflon tape, which isn't meant for flare threads anyway. These are inexpensive parts, so it's smart to keep a handful in your spare parts kit for when you're swapping kegs or gas lines.
